"5 Common Signs Your Skylight Needs Repair or Replacement"

Take a visual look at your skylight, does it look a little worn down or out of date? Here are 5 common signs your skylight needs a repair or replacement.


  1. Water stains at the top of the tunnel. This is the start of a leak.

  2. Foggy glass - Skylights are supposed to be clear, if they are foggy then the seals are broken.

  3. Interior wood trim at the top of the tunnel that has black/brown marks in the corners. (Leak)

  4. 20-25 years old - Most units last 20-25 years if properly installed. Get a pro to look at the unit if it's older.

  5. Cracks. Yes, dome skylights will start to crack as the acrylic breaks down from the sun. Replace before it's too late.
